GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT (cont.)

The Work of the Holy Spirit in the Scriptures

As born again believers, we must use the Word of God when we pray to combat all the attacks of the enemy.  In every battle we will need faith as our shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at us by Satan.  Our words are ineffective. We take authority by speaking the Word of God over all the devil thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.  We will need the helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.  The Word of God is the Sword that the Holy Spirit uses.

Emblems of the Holy Spirit

The following are symbols used in the Bible to represent God the Holy Spirit:

The Dove in the Bible represents the form of the Holy Spirit.  Oil indicates light, healing and anointing for service.  Water signifies the new life and cleansing from sin.  Jesus spoke of the Holy Spirit being like water.

A seal is a very special mark that signifies ownership.  The Holy Spirit has sealed every born again   believer as belonging with God.  The believer belongs to God and their salvation is a finished work.

The wind represents the power of the Holy Spirit.  In the natural world you can’t see the wind but you can see the result of the wind. The Gift of the Holy Spirit when the Holy Spirit was first given, fire was used as a symbol of His presence. Fire signifies the presence of the Lord.
